chynaIt is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of another Icon of the Attitude Era of the WWE that has passed away in Joanie Laurer a.k.a. Chyna. Chyna was one hell of a trailblazer when she showed up in the WWE defying the odds of what a woman should look like in the business. She was built, mean, and could take on any of the guys if they crossed her path. She was a two time WWF Intercontinental Champion as well as a WWF Women’s Champion on one occasion. She was an integral member of Degeneration X with Triple H, Rick Rude, and Shawn Michaels as well as the second version which included The New Age Outlaws and X-Pac. While in the WWF, Chyna would once again defy the odds as she appeared on the cover of Playboy Magazine proving that a physically fit woman was beautiful too. Laurer would stay with the company until November of 2001 where her life would take a much different path that would include reality show appearances as well as pornography. No matter what may have happened in her life, we still love Chyna and I say that she was a true Icon of the wrestling business and the ninth wonder of the world. My only hope now is that the WWE does the right thing and they induct her into the WWE Hall Of Fame where she belongs. Joanie “Chyna” Laurer will be missed. R.I.P. 1970-2016.
