We are continuing to pay tribute to all the amazing African Americans that have stepped foot into the squared circle for Black History Month. The man we are checking out today has been known as Big Daddy V, Viscera, and Mabel, but there was no denying that Nelson Frazier Jr. was an intimidating force in the WWE. In only it’s third year in existence, the 1995 King Of The Ring tournament from the CoreStates Spectrum in Philadelphia was full of surprises. Mabel’s road to the finals was a little easier than his finals opponent Savio Vega. All Mabel had to do was defeat The Undertaker in the quarterfinals because thanks to a time limit draw in the Shawn Michaels/Kama match, Mabel had a semifinal bye. Savio Vegas road was a little harder as he defeated Irwin R. Schyster during the pre-show just to qualify and then he had to go through Yokozuna and The Roadie just to get to the finals match. So, you have to imagine that Savio was a little beat up as compared to the well rested Mabel.
The question was could Savio have his own moment to shine like Rocky Balboa in Philadelphia or would wrestling for the 4th time in less than three hours catch back up to him. In the beginning of the match, Savio was actually in control with some big chops, but he was ultimately avoiding big time moves from the big man like a splash that Savio moved out of the way of. The big man would eventually use his size to his advantage as he locked Savio Vega in a huge bear hug that wore Vega down. Even when Vega tried to get out of it, Mabel would throw him against the turnbuckles and he would slap him right back into another bear hug. Savio though would have one last push that included a roll up attempt and a spinning heel kick, but Mabel refused to give up. Savio would then make the mistake of trying to hit Mabel with a crossbody, but Mabel caught him and dropped him in a powerslam. He would follow it up with a big running splash that was the answer as Mabel covered Savio for the 1-2-3. After the match, Mo would start a fight with Razor Ramone who was attending to his friend and they attacked him.
