savage-steeleLast month, the world lost the beloved George “The Animal” Steele when he passed away from kidney failure. So to honor him, we are checking out a match on Countdown To WrestleMania 33 from WrestleMania 2 that featured George The Animal” Steele as he took on the then Intercontinental Champion Macho Man Randy Savage from the Nassau Coliseum. After an episode of Saturday Main Event, George became smitten with Miss Elizabeth which was a huge distraction and you can believe that Macho Man would take advantage of those opportunities. All of it eventually led to their meeting at WrestleMania 2 where Macho Man would put his belt on the line against Steele. As soon as the bell rang, Macho Man wanted no part of Steele as he kept running out of the ring, but I think it’s because he didn’t know how to approach his opponent. He would enter and exit the ring one more time, but this time George went after him and eventually caught him and George started biting his boot.

54George was on the right track attacking Macho Man in the ring, but then he made the mistake of turning his attention to Miss Elizabeth on the outside and Macho Man being ever the opportunist, took advantage of the situation. He had George hung up on the ropes and he began to lay in some kicks. Anytime in the match that George made some headway whether it be beating Macho Man with a bouquet of flowers or stuffing the ring turnbuckle, he would easily get distracted by Elizabeth and it allowed Macho Man to take advantage. After kicking out of a pinfall attempt from a the Macho Man dropping an elbow, he would attack Savage in the corner, but the referee had to separate him which allowed Savage just enough time to knock the big man down and use the ropes as leverage in the next pin attempt that saw Savage get the 1-2-3. Just like that Savage retained his Intercontinental Championship. While you’re at it, don’t forget to like our page on Facebook at Facebook.com/MRXPUNCHOUT and follow us on Twitter too.
