snuka-rudeFor today’s Countdown To WrestleMania 33 match, I wanted to do two things with the match I chose. One is to honor a legend who has passed away recently and the other to honor a man that needs to be in the WWE Hall Of Fame. Last year, I covered a match with Ravishing Rick Rude and this year I am doing the same as he too on the late Superfly Jimmy Snuka at WrestleMania VI from the SkyDome in Toronto, CA. It was an interesting match that pinned legendaary Snuka against the young, brash, but very skilled Rick Rude who was accompanied to the ring by Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. Rude tried to attack Snuka before the bell, but as soon as he went for a dropkick, Snuka was able to stop by grabbing the rope forcing Rude to miss and hit the mat. He then proceeded to hit him with some chops and strikes, a sort of flapjack, and then a back body drop that sent Rude reeling.

4He then proceeded to mock Rude with his hip gyrations, but it didn’t matter cause it looked like Rude wasn’t going to get any offense. The man gets dropped kicked out of the ring and then when he tries for a sunset flip back in the ring, Jimmy hits him with a nice punch stopping that. Rude would get his break very soon after reversing Snuka’s backbody drop attempt with a short snap suplex. The advantage wouldn’t last very long after Snuka came flying off the ropes with a big headbutt that hit Rude right between the eyes. Snuka after some sloppy offense would climb the ropes to nail his patent flying headbutt, but as soon as he tried Heenan distracted him a tiny bit but it was enough for Rude to move right out of the way. Rude would then proceed to hit Snuka with the Rude Awakening and that was all she wrote. It was a short match and definitely not the best that we would expect from these two. Update: Just as soon as I posted this article it was revealed on Twitter that Ravishing Rick Rude was finally getting inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. Congratulations to Rick and his family, he was one of the best heels of his time. While you’re at it, don’t forget to like our page on Facebook at Facebook.com/MRXPUNCHOUT and follow us on Twitter too.
