dream matches part oneWith all of the sudden changes and the McMahon family taking over the WWE telling the universe that they plan to listen to what they want had me thinking a bit. Since Christmas is around the corner and the results from the tapings this past week already getting spoiled for me, I decided to come up with a list that I wish Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Vince McMahon, and Shane McMahon will all listen to. All I want for Christmas this year are my dream matches that are yet to happen in the WWE or haven’t been explored enough. Let’s be honest, we are all sick of seeing Rey Mysterio take on Randy Orton, but we want more of matches like Seth Rollins vs Shinsuke Nakamura which we saw at this years Survivor Series which by the way was a fantastic match. All the WWE Universe is saying is that we want you to stop force feeding us trash like Bobby Lashley, A.O.P., and anything else we haven’t been enjoying over the last year or so. What we want is more tag team matches because that division is dying and it needs a boost. Right now, here are all of my dream matches that need to happen WWE:

Becky Lynch vs Ronda Rousey

becky vs rondaThis is obviously at the top of the list for a reason and that is because what we saw from Becky and Ronda before Becky’s injury was absolute gold. Their feud on Twitter and in the the halls of the WWE has trumped (for lack of better words) anything that the men have been doing and is certainly more interesting than Seth vs Dean. We all know that this match more than likely may happen at WrestleMania 35 (which it should) and if it does happen than this needs to main event the whole damn show. This is the greatest generation of women’s wrestlers the industry has ever seen and there is no one better to set history than these two. We just hope that the brass at the WWE know a smart business decision when it smacks them right in the face.

Kalisto vs Rey Mysterio

kalisto vs reyFor a very long time, all I wanted was to see Rey Mysterio take on Sin Cara in the battle of the Luchadores, but in the sense of a generational thing like the Rock had with Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania X8. Unfortunately, Sin Cara never really panned out in the WWE (both versions to be exact) and Kalisto seemed to be this day and ages new Rey Mysterio in the past couple of years. It almost seems impossible that it’ll happen with Rey on Smackdown Live and Kalisto trapped in the Lucha House Party on RAW and 205 Live, but I think this is a match that can happen somewhere down the road. Rey is an absolute legend in the business who showed that you didn’t have to be 6’7″ and built like a brick sh** house to be a star in the wrestling world. Now he needs to pass the torch to the next in line which is obviously Kalisto and while I’ll try not to hold my breath for this one, I’ll definitely dream about seeing it. Plus, I truly believe that these two would excite a crowd with the action whether it be on RAW, Smackdown Live, or 205 Live.

Seth Rollins vs AJ Styles

aj vs seth copyI honestly do not believe that Seth Rollins and AJ Styles have ever locked up in a one on one match in the WWE. Seth Rollins is a guy who is carrying a generation of wrestlers in the WWE right now as he is and always was the future of the company. AJ Styles is a legend in the business that did things a little differently than most when it came to his road to the WWE. In the last two years or so, AJ has proved that he can carry a championship and a brand on his shoulders and he continues to do so. I mean the man had a five star match with John Cena which are words that are often not uttered a lot. Seth Rollins had one of the most impressive title runs the first time around before he suffered that knee injury that put him on the shelf for a while. He has since made a major return and has had some fantastic matches with whomever he steps in the ring with (except Dean Ambrose). I think the two best wrestlers in the business need to clash in the ring sooner rather than later.

Lars Sullivan vs Braun Strowman

Braun vs LarsI know one has done very little in the WWE itself while the other one is the darling of the WWE Universe with his catchy catch phrase, “Get These Hands.” I am talking about the monster of NXT Lars Sullivan and the Monster Among Men Braun Strowman who despite having a title shot at the Royal Rumble is most likely not walking out with the Universal Championship. What should happen is what I like to call the battle of the Gargantuas as I propose Lars Sullivan vs Braun Strowman. It would be the perfect match to establish Lars as the most dominant monster in the WWE since you’ve established that the Monster Among Men is nothing compared to the Beast Incarnate. This one also plays into my next dream match after this one so bare with me. I have to agree with my fellow colleague on Five Star Podcast who has stated that the WWE should treat Lars in the same way they had treated the Big Red Monster Kane when he first debuted in the WWE and that is just make him dominant.

Brock Lesnar vs Lars Sullivan

brock vs larsI am giving you a two for one right here with Lars Sullivan, but I want to treat it more like a funeral for Brock Lesnar. I think the WWE Universe is absolutely done having a Universal Champion who is only contractually obligated to be there six times a year. They have a plethora of talent to the point that if they knew how to use them then they’d be all set bringing back someone like Brock. It was cool for the first year or two when he was picking on guys like John Cena, but there is no use for him anymore. That is where Lars Sullivan comes into play here and again bare with me. Lars has just come off a big win over Braun and now to establish himself as the most dominant force the industry has ever seen, he sends Brock Lesnar into retirement and back to the UFC where he belongs because this is Lars’s house now. It would be a passing of the torch moment that I would force Brock to do so that we can move on from him and into the future. I know the guy hasn’t wrestled on the main roster yet, but this is a chance for the company to establish him as a dominant force. This is part one of Dream matches with Mr. X so stay tuned here for part 2.

Extreme_Rules_2018Tonight is World Wrestling Entertainment’s annual Pay Per View Extreme Rules, you know the event that they claim they let go extreme, but we never really see anything too extreme in the sense of the old 90’s Hardcore scene. If you’re a WWE Fanatic then you are just excited that the PPV is here because there are some decent matches on the card with the one match I am looking forward to in the 30 minute iron man match for the Intercontinental championship that pins the champion Dolph Ziggler against former champion Seth Rollins. I mean other than that match, the only other matches worth looking forward to is the Extreme Rules women’s match between Nia Jax and Champion Alexa Bliss and the Raw Tag Team Championship match between The Deleters of Worlds (Bray Wyatt & Matt Hardy) vs The B-Team (Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel). I know a lot of you are looking forward to the return of TeamHellNo (Daniel Bryan & Kane), but I am kind of over it because there is still a rivalry that needs to commence while they have The Miz on Smackdown Live. One match that I would have been interested in is the AJ Styles/Rusev match for the WWE Championship if I thought that the title was actually going to change hands, but it’s not.

c4bac822-8418-11e8-99b0-7de4d17a9c3a_1280x720_162740I am still sour over the fact that after having him wrestle AJ Styles at WrestleMania, The Greatest Royal Rumble, Backlash, and Money In The Bank that Shinsuke Nakamura is not WWE Champion. I had high hopes for the King Of Strong Style, but apparently the WWE didn’t and now he is fighting for the US Championship against Jeff Hardy which don’t get me wrong will probably be a good match. It’s  just not what I had in mind for Shinsuke after winning the Royal Rumble. Then they are giving us a match that while it features two of the most physical wrestlers in the ring, it also features two of the worst on the microphone in Bobby Lashley vs Roman Reigns. What did we do to deserve this punishment in our lives? So you have to expect a very physical match with almost no wrestling skills behind it and definitely no microphone interactions. The other question is whether the WWE is going to stop being afraid of someone who doesn’t speak the language that well become a champion. You know I am talking about Asuka who won the first ever WWE Women’s Royal Rumble match and failed to win as well at WrestleMania like her fellow countrymen. Enough is enough already and just make her champion because Carmella being champ was fun while it lasted.

c60ff0f8e34359d4-600x400I haven’t really paid attention to Raw or Smackdown so I have no idea what Finn Balor vs Baron Corbin is about other than it keeps Finn away from the Universal Championship that must have disintegrated when Thanos clicked his thumb during Avengers: Infinity War. Braun Strowman is on on heck of a ride right now and I am enjoying every second of it because he looks like a genuine good guy and he is exactly what Vince McMahon loves which is a big physical specimen. He takes on Kevin Owens in a steel cage match which means that Kevin is going to try and escape all match long, but he’s going to catch those hands. The pre-show has two matches attached to it with talent that should be getting pushed like Sanity and Andrade “Cien” Almas. Andrade “Cien” Almas could be a really great heel for the company, but you know xenophobia is a crazy thing. Sanity has some real talented individuals behind them like one Killian Dane who I think has a lot of potential in the future. They are paired against The New Day which I think are running on their last legs while I didn’t even realize that Sin Cara is still on the payroll and taking on Almas. So, tune in tonight because in case you didn’t know rumor has it that Hulk Hogan is showing up tonight now that he has been reinstated. So, check out my predictions below:

Almas will defeat Sin Cara

Sanity will defeat The New Day

Finn will defeat Baron Corbin

Deleters Of Worlds will defeat The B-Team

Bludgeon Brothers will pick up the win

Shinsuke will win the US Championship

Strowman will defeat Owens

Auska wins the title

Bliss will retain the title

Bobby Lashley will defeat Roman

Dolph will retain

AJ Styles will retain

Royal_Rumble_2018_PosteeI am going to start off this article by just saying that no matter how the Women’s Royal Rumble match turns out, I am 100% proud of all those women who are taking women’s wrestling to a whole new level. That is the last time that I am going to address that match tonight, but I am here to talk about the 31ST ever Royal Rumble PPV which takes place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. There are a lot of matches on the card that are just fillers or duds and I have a good reason for saying that. First of all, do not be surprised if The Usos, the best tag team on Smackdown drops the belts tonight due to the recent troubles that Jey Uso has just been through. Enzo Amore was dropped from the company due to his troubles so instead of awarding the belt to someone new, we just have a six man tag match. As much as I love to laugh, I can’t see the point of having Jason Jordan be a champion with Seth Rollins. I mean, Seth deserves more than that, the man is a former WWE Champion that deserves a shot at the belt as much as anyone else.

21e9ecce7fe594aa4764eaa176522a5c_crop_exactNow the real matches to talk about are matches like the triple threat match for the WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar defending it against Kane and Braun Strowman. You have AJ Styles defending the WWE Championship against both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn not in a triple threat match, but a handicap match. Then there’s the Royal Rumble matches itself and I have to be honest in saying that the WWE needs to step it up big time as far as that match is concerned. I am going to say that the Pre-show match between The Club (Gallows & Anderson) and The Revival could actually have the potential to be a great match after all. The WWE needs to listen to the crowd and hand Braun the damn title already, the man is so over with the crowd and he works every single week which is a bonus. He’s not a part timer like Brock or a once in a while guy like Kane. Make the right choices moving forward this year WWE, no one wants to see Roman Reigns headline another WrestleMania. With that being said, Shinsuke Nakamura is the only logical winner moving forward unless it’s Finn Balor on the other end.

DURSKZaV4AAPp98.0So, with the fact that I just mentioned Shinsuke, you know I want AJ Styles to walk out of Philly with the WWE title just like the Patriots are going to walk out of Minnesota SuperBowl champions (I’m a good heel I know). The only other way, I’ll expect Brock winning tonight is if Finn Balor wins the Royal Rumble. I just think the man deserves his shot at the title and why not have the Beast vs the Demon. We could also easily have the Monster Among Men vs the Demon as well. The Philly crowd looks pumped up (just check out Barstool sports) and ready to enjoy this amazing PPV and so should you because after all history is being made tonight right in front of your eyes. I am only expecting a win from Bayley, Asuka, or Nia Jax. I am sorry ladies of Smackdown Live, but the win is going to Raw. I was originally hoping for a win from Paige, but Sasha Banks ruined that. I want a surprise return of AJ Lee tonight for the women and I am still holding on to hopes of a CM Punk return or even Tyson Kidd on the men’s side. That is another thing I look forward to the most tonight is the surprise entrants. Here are my predictions for tonight:

Braun Strowman wins the WWE Universal Championship

AJ Styles retains the WWE Championship

Bobby Roode retains the US Championship

Gable & Benjamin win the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Titles

Cesaro & Sheamus win The WWE Raw Tag Team Championships

The Revival will defeat The Good Brothers

Kalisto, Gran Metalik, and Lince Dorado will win

Shinsuke Nakamura will win the Royal Rumble match

Asuka will win the Women’s Royal Rumble match

220px-WWE_TLC_2017_PosterI am trying to figure out what in the world is going on in the WWE as sickness struck the company at the most inconvenient time ever. WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs 2017 was supposed to be a huge event this year for one reason and that is the official Shield reunion. All other matches on the card meant absolutely nothing to me besides the Asuka debut. The group was supposed to have a match against The Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, and Braun Strowman in a tables, ladders, and chairs match. That quickly changed as Kane was added to the fold and Roman was out of the match due to “medical” issues. To replace Roman in the match, Kurt Angle was placed in the match making it the first time in 11 years that he has competed in a WWE ring. Then out of nowhere on the same night as that announcement, another one was made that was mind boggling to me. I was not looking forward to a Bray Wyatt vs Finn Balor III match only to see Bray lose again with a painted face to make you think Sister Abigail has possessed him. No instead, we are receiving what I believe to be a WrestleMania worthy match as two former leaders of The Bullet Club go one on one as Finn takes on Smackdown Live’s AJ Styles. The reason for that is the same reason that Roman Reigns is out apparently so Bray was quarantined and told not to be at the event.

WWE-TLC-2017Something bad is going around in the WWE and a lot of them have whatever it is and I have heard two conflicting stories as to what. Some of the other matches on the card include the debut of former NXT women’s champion and the still undefeated Asuka taking on Emma in one on one action. You also have Sasha Banks taking on Alicia Fox on the preshow, Alexa Bliss defending her women’s championship against Mickie James, Kalisto defending the Cruiserweight championship against Enzo Amore, and a cruiserweight tag team match that features Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann taking on The Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher. So as you can see, it’s going to be an uneventful TLC PPV which will probably see Braun Strowman and Co. get the win by making an example of Kurt Angle. The WWE is in a crisis whether they choose to believe it or not with the low attendance numbers that have plagued both RAW and Smackdown. They needed The Shield reunion to boost things, but it’s back to square one and why else would they have a WrestleMania caliber match with AJ and Finn on the card if they were not. Here are my predictions:

Braun Strowman, The Miz, Kane, Cesaro, and Sheamus will def Seth Rollins, Kurt Angle, and Dean Ambrose

Finn Balor scores a win against AJ Styles

Alexa Bliss will def Mickie James

Alicia Fox will defeat Sasha Banks

Asuka will defeat Emma

Enzo will defeat Kalisto

Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher will score a win.

If any matches are announced during the show then my predictions will be made on my Twitter page.

77You can’t have WrestleMania without one of it’s most iconic figures in Andre The Giant and the WWE paid tribute to the eight wonder of the world by creating The André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in his honor. With Cesaro and The Big Show already winners of the battle royal, the question going into WrestleMania 32 was who was going to win the third annual edition of the battle royal. One of the shocking entrants of the battle royal that joined Fandango, Damien Sandow, Big Show, Viktor, Diamond Dallas Page, Konnor, Tatanka, Jack Swagger, R-Truth, Goldust, Curtis Axel, Adam Rose, Heath Slater, Tyler Breeze, Mark Henry, Bo Dallas, Darren Young, and Kane was the one and only Shaquille O’Neal. It was one of those moments of the battle royal that you kind of got excited for because you knew a confrontation with The Big Show was eminent. The two started it out with a stare down before Kane walked over foolishly thinking he would chokeslam the both of them, but they ended up chokeslamming him before all the wrestlers attacked them. After brushing all of the wrestlers off of them, Fandango got cute trying to get a moment, but he was eliminated by the Big Show.

78.pngSandow tried to get cute as well and Shaq eliminated him allowing the two to finally confront each other. The two would have a stalemate trying to choke slam each other before all of the competitors eliminated the both of them. That is when the melee happened as bodies were literally flying everywhere, but somehow when the numbers were dwindling down, the social outcasts were still in the match. No need to worry though because Kane and Baron Corbin began cleaning house before Kane attacked Corbin forcing Mark Henry to finish the job. At the end of the match, it looked like Kane was going to dominate the match as he eliminated Bo Dallas and Darren Young at the same time, but Corbin came from behind and eliminated Kane to take the trophy home. He was the first NXT wrestler to win the trophy and he would make his official jump to the roster that night. Hey, don’t forget to like our page on Facebook at Facebook.com/MRXPUNCHOUT and follow us on Twitter too.

Countdown To Wrestlemania, Dean Ambrose, Kane, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, The New Age Outlaws, The Shield, Wrestlemania 30, WrestleMania 33, WrestleMania XXX, WWE WrestleMania XXX

20140314_Match_Preview_LARGE_RThis Sunday at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida all three former members of The Shield, the world’s greatest trio, will all be in action on the world’s grandest stage. That is why I have decided to feature them as a collective because they were simply awesome and exciting to watch. At WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans, the trio were tasked with having to dismantle the pesky New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg & Bad Ass Billy Gunn) and Kane who had been getting in the way of The Shield for weeks leading up to the event. The Shield immediately made an impact not allowing The New Age Outlaws to speak as their music hit the speakers. The Shield immediately started cleaning house with Dean first taking care of Kane before tagging Roman in who dismantled the Outlaws with the drive bay and a superman punch before Seth hit Kane with the flying knee and a moonsault to the outside on Kane. Dean and Seth would hit The Outlaws on the outside with suicide dives before tossing Billy and Road Dogg in for the finishing touch, a Shield powerbomb to both of them and that was all she wrote as The Shield won the match.

Countdown To WrestleMania 33: Day 25: Money In The Bank Ladder Match

Christian, CM Punk, Countdown To Wrestlemania, Finlay, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Main Event Madness, Mark Henry, Money In The Bank Ladder Match, Montel Vontavious Porter, Shelton Benjamin, Wrestlemania, WrestleMania 33, WrestleMania XXIV, WrestleMania XXV, Wrestling, WWE, WWE Network, WWE WrestleMania 33, WWE WrestleMania XXV

money-in-the-bank4One of the most iconic matches in WrestleMania history was the ladder match when we first saw it with Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon. The match of course has evolved over the years with a triangle ladder match, TLC match, and then the Money In The Bank Ladder match which was first introduced at WrestleMania 21. Like anything, the match would eventually evolve and become an annual pay per view like the TLC match. At WrestleMania XXV, the match would return yet again and CM Punk was looking to win the match once again as he did at WrestleMania XXIV. If he was going to be successful, he would have to do so against Christian, Shelton Benjamin, Kane, Finlay, Montel Vontavious Porter, Kofi Kingston and Mark Henry. We all know that the beauty of matches like these are the various spots that happen during the match. When the match started, Kane and Mark Henry basically cleared the ring sending everyone out before attacking each other. Henry was in full control in the ring until Christian and Shelton Benjamin used a ladder together to take the two biggest men out of the match.

62Kofi was the first to razzle and dazzle us as he leaped over the ladder and nailed them with a dropkick and then proceeded to hit a boom drop on top of the ladder. The competitors were smart as they did their best to take Kane and Henry out of the picture again until they all climbed a ladder. The next big spot that followed started with Fit Finlay hitting a suicide dive to the outside of the ring. Christian would get up and he would hit a crossbody to the outside hitting Finlay, Kane, and Benjamin. MVP would turn himself into a human cannonball as he nailed all of them on the outside. Punk and Kingston would look at each other in the ring with no ladders and they would hit all of them with a suicide dive each at the same time. Then out of nowhere, Shelton Benjamin climbed one of the bigger ladders and did a swan dive on to all the wrestlers on the outside so he wasn’t outdone by everyone. Then all of a sudden, it looked like Mark Henry was going to attempt to jump on the crowd, but Finlay rescued everyone by hitting Henry with the Shillelagh which was a definite life saver.

63In a very funny occurrence, Hornswoggle decided to get in on the fun and Finlay set up the little ladder and he did a five star frog splash onto everyone on the outside. After Kofi was able to stop Finlay from climbing the ladder with trouble in paradise, Mark Henry was able to stop him by simply pushing the ladder down. Mark was trying to set up the ladder, when Kofi started climbing it with Henry still holding it up. Henry slams the ladder down against the ropes and grabs Kofi for a world’s strongest slam on top of the ladder. At one point, MVP had set up a ladder inside of the main ladder that was standing up. Shelton Benjamin tried to use the ladder as a springboard, but MVP caught him and powerbombed him to the mat. All of a sudden as MVP started to climb, CM Punk was there to cut him off, but as soon as he attempted it, Christian delivered the unprettier off of the ladder and on to the mat. It was all out war in the ring and you really did need to have eyes in the back of your head because soon as you think one guy is gone, another appears.

64How much more could these wrestlers possibly take in this match and who in the world was going to be able enough to do so? Shelton Benjamin looked like he was in full control as he attempted to do a sunset flip powerbomb off the ladder, but he ended up botching it. It didn’t matter much because Shelton would just end up powerbombing MVP out of the ring anyways. Fast forward a little into the match, CM Punk is being hung up upside down on the ladder with his leg keeping him from falling. Christian is trying to grab the suitcase when Kane decides to climb the ladder. Kane disposes of Christian with a choke slam off the ladder so it looks like Kane has a clear shot at the briefcase. Punk is finally able to re-position himself on the ladder and he begins to use the educated feet as he kicks Kane off the ladder and once Kane is down, he reaches for it. Much to the dismay of the wrestlers, he is successful in grabbing it as he has now won it two years in a row. Hey, don’t forget to like our page on Facebook at Facebook.com/MRXPUNCHOUT and follow us on Twitter too.

Black History Month, Kane, Main Event, Main Event Madness, Mark Henry, Sheamus, Summerslam, Summerslam 2011, The Big Show, Wrestling, WWE, WWE Network, WWE Summerslam, WWE Summerslam 2011

37We are continuing to pay tribute here at Mr. X’s Punch Out to all the amazing African Americans that have stepped foot into the squared circle for Black History Month. For today, we are covering a man who has been a constant with the WWE since the attitude era and that man is the world’s strongest man Mark Henry. At the point of Summerslam 2011, Mark Henry had been the most dominating force in the company as he put both The Big Show and Kane on the shelf. It looked like there was no one in the company that wanted to step up the world’s strongest man. That was until “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus stepped up to the plate to challenge the big man setting up their match at the Staples Center. Sheamus did not look intimidated at all when he entered the ring and it looked like Henry was going to use his size to his advantage, but Sheamus wasn’t having any of it. Unfortunately the tides would soon change when Henry tossed Sheamus out of the ring to create some separation after some clubbing blows from Sheamus.

38It’s truly amazing the kind of strength that Henry has because he simply lifted Sheamus up and threw him like he was nothing back into the ring. Henry began using his size to his advantage with a huge clothesline, body splash, and even did a leapfrog body guillotine when Sheamus was hung up on the rope. No matter what Sheamus tried to do, Henry was there to cut it off with huge power moves. The night looked very bleak for the Celtic Warrior as Henry was calculating his every move. You could tell that Henry wanted to destroy Sheamus in the ring cause he was doing it. At one point in the match, Henry went for the world’s strongest splash, but when he came down nobody was home as Sheamus rolled out of the way. This was Sheamus’s chance to do some damage to Henry who was reeling. Sheamus began his comeback with some huge axehandle smashes and the Beats of the Bodhrán. After a few offensive maneuvers, Sheamus would nail Henry with the Brogue kick, but the only problem is that Henry rolled out of the ring due to the kick. As soon as Sheamus grabbed Henry on the outside, Henry picked him up like he was setting him for the world’s strongest slam and proceeded to slam him against the ring post and through the security barricade. In the aftermath of it, Henry would go back into the ring and he allowed the referee to count Sheamus out for the win.

wwe-royal-rumble-2003-wallpaper-2For today’s Main Event Madness match, I decided to check out the WWE 2003 Royal Rumble match because tonight I am heading to the XWA Xtreme Rumble event. The 03 Rumble match which was held at The Fleetcenter (TD Garden) in Boston and it was an event that I had attended. What is crazy about the event are the names involved in this match. They are names that are no longer with the company, but it promised to be a good one. The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels drew number one and was looking to see if lightning would strike twice for him while Chris Jericho drew number two. The only problem is that when it was time for Jericho to  come out from the back, it wasn’t him, but it was Jerichos partner at the time Christian who came out to trick Michaels. All of a sudden we see Jericho come from behind Michaels and he just begins to beat him senseless even using a chair which busted Shawn right open. Nonetheless, Shawn was almost eliminated right away by Jericho. The match would continue on featuring the likes of Christopher Nowinski, Rey Mysterio, Edge, Matt Hardy, Chavo Guerrero, Jeff Hardy, B², Tommy Dreamer, Eddie Guerrero, etc.

maxresdefaultOne moment in the match that was cheesy, but cool at the time was when the old John Cena came out rapping with an Astros jersey in Boston. Matches like these are full of great spots like Shannon Moore sacrificing himself so that Matt wouldn’t take the grunt of the impact or Jeff Hardy trying for a high flying move, but as soon as he reached the top rope, RVD was there to eliminate him. At one point in the match, Shawn Michaels would come back to the ring and he would attack Chris Jericho which would then cause Test to eliminate Jericho who had lasted quite some time in the ring. There were several wrestlers in the Rumble that I had forgotten had been in the WWE like Tough Enough winner Maven who made a name for himself one year for eliminating The Undertaker (who would get his revenge in this Rumble match). Business in the Rumble would pick up with pick 28 and up as Batista (28), Brock Lesnar (29), and The Undertaker (30) would make their way to clean house. Brock when entering would eliminate Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, and Matt Hardy all in a row while The Undertaker would eliminate John Cena, Jamal, and Maven all in a row. The final four in the match would consist of A-Train, Batista, The Undertaker, and Brock Lesnar. The Undertaker made the mistake of thinking that he had Brock Lensnar down and out with a tombstone, but after eliminating Kane and Batista he took his eyes off of Brock to talk trash to Batista and Brock came from behind and eliminated him to win the Rumble.

IMG_4815Whether he is kicking ass on Broken Skull Ranch or kicking ass with his Podcast, there is no denying the impact that Stone Cold Steve Austin had on the wrestling business. He is a true icon of the sports entertainment business, a WWE Hall Of Famer, and still my favorite wrestler of all time. So, with that being said, today is a very special day for all wrestling fans out there because its March 16, 2016 or 3:16 officially making this Austin 3:16 Day. A day where you kick back, grab a cold one (as long as your are old enough), crack that son bitch open and enjoy some of the best moments that Stone Cold Steve Austin has to offer on the WWE Network with us. The setting is the 1998 King Of The Ring (when that was still a PPV) and Austin was taking on the big red machine Kane in a First Blood Match. Going into that match, every single one of us was wondering how in the hell was Stone Cold (the WWF Champion at the time) going to beat a man who wears a mask in a first blood match. We thought for sure that Austin was a goner, but we hoped for a miracle.

austinAustin started off the match attacking Kane and really giving it to the big man with hopes of busting him open early, but to no avail for a rattlesnake who wasn’t a 100% heading into the match (he had an staff infection in his elbow as JR called it). It wouldn’t be long though until Kane started to dominate the match, bring all he could to the Rattlesnake. Despite that, Austin never gave up and he always fought back. At one point in the match, the Hell In A Cell came down as someone was lowering it and believe me Kane used it to his advantage. They fought all over the arena once the cage started to rise from the ground. At one point in the match, Austin was giving it to Kane on the outside when Kane resorted to throwing Austin right into the referee to buy himself some time. As soon as Austin was really giving it to Kane, Mankind shows up and Austin has to focus his effort on him giving Kane a chance to regain his composure. Then The Undertaker came to ringside with a chair and as soon as he went to hit Mankind with it, Mankind ducked and The Undertaker hit Austin subsequently busting him open. Austin was still fighting back, but as soon as the referee got up, he called the match and Kane was your new WWF Champion. Don’t fret though because the very next night on Raw, Austin whipped Kane’s ass and won the WWF title back.
