WrestleMania34ALTI don’t know if this is the least excited I have ever been for a WrestleMania in my life. Last year, I was at WrestleMania 33 and I had the time of my life watching it in person and enjoying it. This year, I just feel like WrestleMania 34 which takes place from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans could be one of the more disappointing ones in history. The event just boasters a very lackluster lineup of matches that no one wants to see and matches that we have seen before. For example, we already saw Roman Reigns take on Brock Lesnar for a title at WrestleMania 31 and the best decision they made that night was having Seth Rollins cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase. Does anyone really care about the Ronda Rousey/Kurt Angle vs Stephanie McMahon/Triple H match? The only smart thing they did was not have her face any of the Women’s roster because hopefully her in ring skills are better than her mic skills cause that needs a lot of work. There are a lot of matches on the card that look interesting, but a lot are just not that exciting. One thing is for sure, I only want the American Bad Ass version of The Undertaker showing up tonight to confront John Cena.

styles-vs-nakamuraThe only interesting matches that are on the card is obviously the return of Daniel Bryan to ring action when he teams with Shane McMahon to take on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. It has been a long time since we’ve seen Daniel fight anyone and i am sure the crowd will be pumped up for that one. The match that sees The Miz defend his Intercontinental Championship against Seth Rollins and Finn Balor should be a match of the night contender right along the dream match. The dream match of course is the rematch between Shinsuke Nakamura and WWE Champion AJ Styles. The last time these two met, it was Wrestle Kingdom 10 in Japan and that match was out of this world. Now, we get to see it in a WWE ring and it should tear the roof off the Superdome. While I am not really looking forward to it, I am interested to see if the WWE does what we expect them to do when it comes to Charlotte vs Asuka. We expect the WWE to allow Asuka to continue her undefeated streak especially after the fact that she won the Mixed Match Challenge with The Miz.Are they going to allow Charlotte to be the one that ends the streak? Who knows, but I seriously doubt it.

WrestleMania-34-SD-TagDoes anyone really still care that the Andre The Giant battle royal is still happening? I don’t think so and I think they ruined it last year giving Mojo Rawley the win, but it also proved that winning that means nothing in the business as far as your future cause Jinder Mahal was WWE Champion. The WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal took a huge hit when it was forced to change it’s name from The Fabulous Moolah Memorial Tournament to that. I don’t disagree with the name change, but that was bad Mojo for the battle royal itself. You know the Triple threat match over on Smackdown Live looks awfully familair to me, but oh yea it’s the same match we have seen time and time again, but this time with The Bludgeon Brothers added into the mix. The one question that I have for this match is are they keeping the titles with The Usos or are they going to push The Bludgeon Brothers? I’m not completely sure in what direction the WWE is going to go in with Nia Jax taking on Alexa Bliss only because I’m wondering if they are going to give Nia her shot at being a champion or not?

cruiserpreshowI am a little excited to see Mustafa Ali take on Cedric Alexander for the vacant Cruiserweight Championship because Cedric has definitely earned his shot at being champion in my opinion. You know what I want to see tonight as well is Rusev celebrate Rusev Day at WrestleMania walking out US Champion again! I am definitely curious who Braun Strowman chose as his tag team partner to take on Raw WWE Tag Champs Sheamus and Cesaro because there are a lot of names being thrown around. If you ask me, there is a part of me that wants to see Bray with him, but Braun doesn’t need Bray because he has his own star power. I am a huge fan of Bray Wyatt, but the WWE sealed his fate. Anyways, while I may have said that I am not excited for a lot of the matches on the card, I hope the WWE does pull this off and they have an amazing show. I love WrestleMania and always have since the first one I watched which was WrestleMania III. Enjoy the show and here are my predictions for tonight.

Cedric over Mustafa

Becky Lynch wins women’s battle royal

Tye Dillinger wins Andre The Giant Battle royal

Roman over Brock

Asuka over Charlotte

Alexa over Nia

Seth will win the IC Belt

Braun and partner win Tag team titles

The USOS retain

Booby Roode regains his US title

Shinsuke over AJ Styles

Kurt and Ronda over Triple H and Stephanie

Sami and Kevin over Daniel and Shane

WWE Elimination Chamber 2018: My Thoughts and Predictions

WWE_Elimination_Chamber_2018_PosterI am pretty sure that I have described all the things that were wrong about the WWE bringing back the Elimination Chamber match last year. In fact, you can check out all the injuries that have happened in this article. It is one of the most devilish matches in the WWE that can be very entertaining to fans everywhere, but the physical toll it takes is always the question. I know at last years Elimination Chamber, it looked like the WWE took as many measures as they possibly could to make the match safer which was appreciated by a lot of us. I never want to see a wrestler suffer an injury that he can not come back from no matter who he is. With that said, I am little worried heading into tonight’s event which emanates from the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. I say that because tonight will feature the first ever Women’s Elimination Chamber match that sees Alexa Bliss put her WWE Raw Women’s Championship against Mandy Rose, Bayley, Mickie James, Sasha Banks, and Sonya Deville. While I am excited that the women’s division continues to make history with every PPV that comes and goes, but I am worried about injuries.

eliminThe men will also make history tonight (well sorta) when seven instead of six men enter the chamber tonight to see who will earn a shot at the WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34. Braun Strowman, John Cena, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Elias Sampson, The Miz, and Roman Reigns will battle for the chance. Now the way they are doing it is that three men instead of two will start the match with another entering after five minutes. Now, let’s be honest with each other, while I would love to see Braun Strowman get his legitimate shot at Brock, you know the WWE still has a hard on for Roman Reigns. Rumor has it that John Cena will be facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34 while Braun will be involved in something stupid. So, it almost seems like a nightmare come true for fans of Wrestling that Roman is going to be headlining WrestleMania for the fourth year in a row. Here’s another fact to look at while you watch tonight: last year at this time, Bray Wyatt won the Elimination Chamber match to become WWE Champion. So what has happened to the man since then?

Elimination-Chamber-2018-2One of the best characters to come into this new era of wrestling continues to be disrespected even though we did want to see him face “Woken” Matt Hardy. He seems to be the stepping stone for every wrestler on the roster and that is disheartening. While, I think the tag team division needs to continue to grow, I think I would be OK with Titus Worldwide winning a little gold even though I won’t think it’ll happen tonight. Nia Jax is fighting Asuka tonight for the chance to be included in the WrestleMania 34 match, but I don’t think the WWE is ready for Asuka to lose sadly. Although, I will say that a one on one match between Asuka and Alexa Bliss will be one for the ages even though it should have been Paige in this picture. Sadly, The Good Brothers have been relegated to the Pre-show along with the Miztourage, but that is life in the WWE I suppose. This is a chance for the WWE to pave the way to WrestleMania and beyond so they have to make logical choices, but that remains to be seen. We also have the contract signing to look forward to tonight for Ronda Rousey, but we all know that Stephanie McMahon is going to make this one personal. Here are my predictions for tonight:

The Good Brothers will defeat The Miztourage

Asuka will defeat Nia Jax

Alexa Bliss wins the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match

Cesaro and Sheamus defeat Titus Worldwide

Bray Wyatt defeats Matt Hardy

Roman Reigns wins the men’s Elimination Chamber match

wwe-survivor-series-2017-poster-preview-832x447Things were rocking in Houston, Texas last night for WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames and things are about to get better tonight for WWE Survivor Series. Survivor Series is one of the original Big Four Pay Per Views (alongside Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and SummerSlam) that the WWE debuted back in 1987. It’s the second longest running pay per view the company has and one of the best for it’s unique match that it was built around which was a five on five single elimination match (dubbed the Survivor Series match). This year things got a little more exciting especially with the competition between Raw and Smackdown as we now have champion vs champion matches. We have WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar (Raw) taking on WWE Champion AJ Styles (SD Live) in what should one interesting match. We are also getting WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz (Raw) taking on WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin (SD Live). We also have WWE RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss taking on WWE Smackdown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair in a sort of dream match hence the reason Charlotte won the title.

wweThen there are the traditional Survivor Series matches and things have been heating up with all of the changes in whose in and who is not. The original RAW men’s team consisted of Kurt Angle (Captain), Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, and Jason Jordan taking on Smackdown Live’s team made up of Shane McMahon (Captain), Randy Orton, Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura, and John Cena. That was the original match and a lot of us were stunned at the fact that Jordan had been picked for the team considering Smackdown told the world that Cena was the last member chosen. Stephanie McMahon agreed with me and Bray Wyatt helped the situation by injuring Jordan last week on RAW. When it came time to announce the replacement, Jordan made the situation difficult and Triple H remedied it by announcing that it was him and he put the exclamation point on it by delivering a pedigree to Jordan. Now the match is interesting and one I can not wait to see because imagine the situations you’ll get in this match. Finn and Shinsuke in the ring at the same time or even Triple H and Bobby Roode and so many more.

wwe 2The other traditional Survivor Series match is between the Women this time around as RAW’s Alicia Fox (Captain), Nia Jax, Asuka, Sasha Banks, and Bayley take on Smackdown Live’s Becky Lynch (Captain), Carmella, Naomi, Tamina, and Natalya. The thing that I would love to see happen tonight with that match is that instead of Natalya being in the match, Paige makes her triumphant return to a WWE ring as a member of Team Smackdown Live. I doubt it will happen because I believe that she is being punished for a picture she took last Monday. We’ll see if anything happens tonight, but there’s more matches for tonight. In their first PPV match since reuniting The Shield (Dean, Seth, and Roman) take on The New Day in a six man elimination falls count anywhere match. RAW tag team champions The Bar (Cesaro & Sheamus) take on The Usos to finish out the RAW vs Smackdown Live matches. The Pre-show features some surprise matches like Breezango taking on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, Enzo defends his cruiserweight title against Kalisto and Matt Hardy takes on Elias Sampson. Again, they have set this PPV up to be a very good one, but it remains to be seen if it ends up going that way for them. I’ll be tuning into it and hopefully you are if you’re a fan. Check out my predictions below:

Overall, I think out of seven total matches between Raw and Smackdown Live, I think RAW wins overall, but the setting is set for a match between Triple H and Kurt Angle for WrestleMania 34.

Enzo defeats Kalisto with help from Gulak

Owens and Zayn will defeat Breezango

Elias defeats Matt Hardy

The Shield will defeat The New Day

The USOS will defeat Cesaro and Sheamus

Charlotte will defeat Alexa Bliss

The Miz will defeat Baron Corbin

Team Raw Women’s will defeat Smackdown Live

Team Smackdown Men will defeat Team Raw

Brock Lesnar will defeat AJ Styles

220px-WWE_TLC_2017_PosterI am trying to figure out what in the world is going on in the WWE as sickness struck the company at the most inconvenient time ever. WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs 2017 was supposed to be a huge event this year for one reason and that is the official Shield reunion. All other matches on the card meant absolutely nothing to me besides the Asuka debut. The group was supposed to have a match against The Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, and Braun Strowman in a tables, ladders, and chairs match. That quickly changed as Kane was added to the fold and Roman was out of the match due to “medical” issues. To replace Roman in the match, Kurt Angle was placed in the match making it the first time in 11 years that he has competed in a WWE ring. Then out of nowhere on the same night as that announcement, another one was made that was mind boggling to me. I was not looking forward to a Bray Wyatt vs Finn Balor III match only to see Bray lose again with a painted face to make you think Sister Abigail has possessed him. No instead, we are receiving what I believe to be a WrestleMania worthy match as two former leaders of The Bullet Club go one on one as Finn takes on Smackdown Live’s AJ Styles. The reason for that is the same reason that Roman Reigns is out apparently so Bray was quarantined and told not to be at the event.

WWE-TLC-2017Something bad is going around in the WWE and a lot of them have whatever it is and I have heard two conflicting stories as to what. Some of the other matches on the card include the debut of former NXT women’s champion and the still undefeated Asuka taking on Emma in one on one action. You also have Sasha Banks taking on Alicia Fox on the preshow, Alexa Bliss defending her women’s championship against Mickie James, Kalisto defending the Cruiserweight championship against Enzo Amore, and a cruiserweight tag team match that features Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann taking on The Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher. So as you can see, it’s going to be an uneventful TLC PPV which will probably see Braun Strowman and Co. get the win by making an example of Kurt Angle. The WWE is in a crisis whether they choose to believe it or not with the low attendance numbers that have plagued both RAW and Smackdown. They needed The Shield reunion to boost things, but it’s back to square one and why else would they have a WrestleMania caliber match with AJ and Finn on the card if they were not. Here are my predictions:

Braun Strowman, The Miz, Kane, Cesaro, and Sheamus will def Seth Rollins, Kurt Angle, and Dean Ambrose

Finn Balor scores a win against AJ Styles

Alexa Bliss will def Mickie James

Alicia Fox will defeat Sasha Banks

Asuka will defeat Emma

Enzo will defeat Kalisto

Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher will score a win.

If any matches are announced during the show then my predictions will be made on my Twitter page.

WWENoMercyPoster2017You have to love it when the WWE finally builds up a match that deserves all the build up. At last months Summerslam, we were teased a match that we had hoped would happen for months, but the WWE did it the right way and they let Strowman build up to that very moment when he delivered two running powerslams to Brock Lesnar into two announce tables. What would follow in the next upcoming weeks has all of us salivating at the chance of a big heavyweight fight between The Monster Among Men taking on the Beast Incarnate for the WWE Universal Championship. The only questiuon heading into WWE NO Mercy tonight from the Staples Center in Los Angeles is whether or not we are getting the result that the overall consensus wants. Are we going to get a champion that is there and wrestling every week or are we going to have the same old and Lesnar is just going to be running the train through everyone until WrestleMania? I just hope that the WWE makes the right decision tonight and we get a new era in the WWE.

John-Cena-vs.-Roman-Reigns-No-Mercy-2017That isn’t the only big match on the card though, there is one more match that peaks my interest on the card. We knew for a little bit that John Cena was designated a free agent and that he could jump from brand to brand to face whoever he wanted. So we eventually knew that a match up with Roman Reigns was in the cards, I just didn’t think that we were going to get the match at No Mercy instead of WrestleMania, but this seems to be happening on both brands these days. So besides the shock of this match happening now, we have to look at the plus side of it and that is the promos between these two have been straight fire. It finally took someone like John Cena to bring out the best in Roman Reigns as far as mic skills were concerned because if it wasn’t for that first promo I probably wouldn’t have been as invested in this match as I am now. My only concern for this match is what is John Cena going to do? Is he going to do the so called “right thing” and put Roman Reigns over or is he going to “bury” him as people call it by winning the match? Another question to ask is even if Roman wins the match, is anyone going to even care enough to cheer him anyways?

no mercyNow there are other matches on the card and the only other match I am looking forward to is the tag team title rematch between the champions Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose who defend their belts against The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro). It’s 2/3’s of The Shield so what else am I supposed to say, I am a huge mark for that team so get over it. I was looking forward to the Women’s match until the WWE decided at the last minute that it was OK to insert Bayley into the match. I am also surprised that the Jason Jordan/The Miz match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship wasn’t a pre-show match, but that could be because Miz has amazing heel skills and Jason Jordan had two amazing matches with Roman Reigns and John Cena recently. I am however not looking forward to the Neville/Enzo Amore match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship because it’s an abomination that Neville has to defend that title against Enzo of all people. Could we have not found him a more suitable opponent like Gran Metalik, Lince Dorado, or even Akira Tozawa. Nonetheless, that is what we get for tonight and that’s what we’ll have to deal with. Here are my predictions for tonight:

Braun Strowman defeats Brock Lesnar

Nia Jax wins the WWE Women’s Championship

Roman Reigns defeats John Cena

Neville defeats Enzo Amore

The Miz defeats Jason Jordan

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose defeat The Bar

Bray Wyatt defeats Finn Balor

Elias defeats Apollo Crews

SummerSlam_2017It’s that time of the year again when things start to slow down because it’s almost the end of the summer. WrestleMania 33 has already come and go as it happened four months ago so what do we need to keep us in the spirit of summer? Well, lets give us the second biggest PPV behind WrestleMania in SummerSlam which comes to us once again from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Now this year’s event can go one of two ways in my opinion with one of them being that it turns into a total disaster of an event or they make things right to set the road to WrestleMania. We all know the matches we would like to see happen at WrestleMania 34, it’s whether they get it right at this pay per view that sets the tone. One of the first things I want to talk about is the selection of pre-show matches that they decided. First you have the new cruiserweight champion in Akira Tozawa defending the belt against the man he beat for it in Neville. Then you have The New Day defending their Smackdown Tag Team titles against former champs The Usos. The last match of the pre-show features The Hardy Boyz teaming up with Kurt Angle’s son Jason Jordan as they take on The Miz and the Miztourage (Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas). The only argument that I am going to make is that The New Day match does not belong on the pre-show card because you know they are going to give you an excellent match that is worthy of opening the PPV and setting the pace. I can understand the Hardys only because The Revival is out of the picture due to an injury which means they had nothing to do, but unfortunately one of the best heels is relegated to the pre-show. The cruiserweight match is their quite simply because it’s a pre-show title match. You don’t believe me, just look at past PPV’s dating all the way back to WrestleMania 33. The match that I would have thrown in place of the New Day match is the Smackdown Women’s Championship match only because its not as interesting of a match as the Raw Women’s title and Naomi just does not have star talent in my opinion.

showcassenzoThe rest of the card is pretty stacked if you ask me although they are a couple of uninteresting matches on the card. I think the whole world is ready to see the uninteresting reign of Jinder Mahal come to a close and the era of strong style to rise to the top. You know you want this because it could set up a mega match between Shinsuke and AJ Styles at WrestleMania. I honestly feel bad for The Big Show who gets to work a program with Big Cass who it already looks like the WWE has lost faith in and expect to go close to 20 minutes especially if the rumors of this being a punishment to Enzo Amore for his recent troubles being truth. One match that is going to be interesting to see at SummerSlam is the match between John Cena and Baron Corbin only because the way the match goes and the result could speak a 1000 words as far as where Baron’s career is going considering he already lost the MITB briefcase. I am not 100% sure how I feel about the Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks feud that is happening, but the fact that they don’t like each other in real life has me interested enough in it then I do the other women’s match.

WWE_SummerSlam_2017_bodyOne of my favorite feuds that is going on in the WWE features two of my favorites on the whole roster in the WWE in Kevin Owens and AJ Styles. I am at the point that it would not bother me if AJ drops the belt tonight or not because I know you are getting a guaranteed great match especially with Shane O’Mac as the special guest referee. Randy Orton vs Rusev is another throw away match in my opinion, but you can only hope that Randy makes Rusev look good tonight in the ring otherwise we’ll be chanting out we want Lana (as your valet/Manager of course). I am honestly hoping that the WWE makes the right choice tonight as far as The New Face of Fear vs The Demon match is concerned. Bray deserves to be at the top of the company and so doesn’t Finn, but I am invested in a future with Bray Wyatt. Granted his WrestleMania match with Randy Orton was horrible, but not every match is a home run. As far as the big main event is concerned, we all know that there are rumors out there of the next PPY featuring a main event that is Brock Lesnar taking on Braun Strowman. The Beast Incarnate taking on the Monster Among Men, but the only question now if that’s true is who walks out WWE Universal Champion? If that is the case (and hear me out), I think it would be awesome for Braun to win the title tonight and defend it clean (ish) against Brock at the next PPV before Brock goes to do his UFC thing again. Now the rest is up to the company to decide as far as what direction they decide to take tonight, but I will definitely be tuning in for sure. Here are my predictions and just an FYI, if you don’t see my predictions on this blog, just follow me on Twitter for my predictions twitter.com/@MrXPunchOut for those.

The New Day over The Usos

Neville over Akira Tozawa

Jason Jordan and The Hardy Boyz over The Miz and Miztourage

Naomi over Natalya (pains me to make this prediction)

Alexa Bliss over Sasha Banks

Big Cass Over Big Show

Rusev over Randy Orton

Baron Corbin over John Cena

Finn Balor over Bray Wyatt (pains me to make this choice)

Kevin Owens over AJ Styles

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins over Cesaro and Sheamus

Shinsuke Nakamura over Jinder Mahal

Braun Strowman over Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, and Samoa Joe

Main Event Madness: Dean Ambrose Vs Kevin Owens

Alexa Bliss, Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt, Champion Vs Champion, Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens, Main Event, Main Event Madness, Mickie James, Raw, Roman Reigns, Smackdown Live, Superstar Shakedown, The Miz, WWE, WWE Intercontinental Championship, WWE United States Championship

1Last night was the “Superstar Shakedown” part one on Monday Night Raw that saw the likes of Bray Wyatt, The Miz, Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, and Dean Ambrose all make the switch from Smackdown Live to Raw. Your saying to yourself, wait a minute Dean Ambrose, the current WWE Intercontinental Champion is on Raw now? Yes it true and in the main event of Raw, he took on US champion Kevin Owens who we can only assume is going to make the jump to Smackdown Live tomorrow when part two of the superstar shakedown continues. Nonetheless, we had an amazing main event to watch after a night that featured Braun Strowman absolutely brutalize Roman Reigns to the liking of the crowd. When the match started the two began trading advantages with Dean getting the best of Kevin to start off the match as we headed into commercial break with a springboard crossbody to the outside. When we came back, Kevin was in control of the match, but a mistake saw Ambrose take control, but he wasn’t able to do much when he ran shoulder first into the steel post. Owens cemented the control with a big knee to Ambrose against the post.

2Kevin immediately put Dean right into a chin lock and he tried to wear Dean down hopefully so that he would submit. Dean was in a tough predicament, but when he tried to escape, Kevin was quick to cut it off by throwing him to the outside. Owens immediately went to the outside where he would pick up Dean in a fireman’s carry only to launch him ribs first into the steel post. When Dean beat the count to get back in the ring, Owens immediately worked on the rib area. Dean was finally able to create some separation in the match when he put his knees up when Kevin attempted a cannonball. He followed that up with a suicide dive to the outside as he threw caution to the wind as usual. With momentum on his side, Dean began taking control of the match with a swinging neck breaker and some clotheslines. After trading advantages back and forth, it was a mistake by Owens who tried to use Dean’s finisher against him that led to his demise as Dean was able to reverse it into the dirty deeds to pick up the win. Welcome to Raw Dean Ambrose!

1ad8a07e983efbd895235fab914d6eedWe did this some years back and we did it again this year where we cover a match from someone who is about to be inducted in to the WWE Hall Of Fame. We covered a match from Ravishing Rick Rude, Kurt Angle, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, Beth Phoenix, Diamond Dallas Page, and now we have something featuring inductee Theodore Long. Back when the brands were still split, John Laurinaitis was running Raw and Theodore Long was running Smackdown. The two placed a bet that each would build a team of wrestlers from their respective roster for a 12 man tag match and the winner of the match would gain control of both brands. Team Johnny was made up of David Otunga, Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, The Miz, and Drew McIntyre (accompanied to the ring by Vicky Guerrero, and Brie Bella) while Team Teddy was made up of Santino Marella, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Zack Ryder, The Great Khali, and Booker T (accompanied to the ring by Hornswoggle, Nikki Bella, Eve Torres, and Aksana). It as the first time that there had ever been a 12 man tag match at WrestleMania and we could only hope for the best that night.

5Team Teddy started out the match in control as Kofi Kingston who started the match with Dolph made him pay for showing off. Eventually, R-Truth would get the tag and he would continue the advantage by working on Dolph, but a dropkick from Dolph would give him the chance to tag in McIntyre. After a couple of tag in’s by Team Teddy, Booker T would get distracted by attacking every member of Team Johnny and Otunga would give McIntyre the chance to make him pay for it. The team would dominate Booker T whether it was Swagger wearing him down or Mark Henry throwing him around like a rag doll. Things looked scar if you were a fan of Team Teddy at this moment in the match. After a while of being beat down by almost every member of Team Johnny, Booker T was able to give him self some breathing time, but it didn’t last long thanks to Henry who quickly squashed that, but the consequences of that was an all out melee in the ring. The best spot in the match would happen right after Mark Henry caught and tossed Hornswoggle as Zack Ryder, Kofi Kingston, and R-Truth all did moonsaults over the ropes to the outside.

6Then all of a sudden a fight broke out between all the ladies that were at ringside, it was just total chaos. Santino would finally get the tag from Booker T and he just chopped away at The Miz hitting him with hip tosses and a flying headbutt from the top rope. Then Santino pulled out the Cobra and he hit the Miz with it, but when he went for the cover Dolph Ziggler made the most important save of the match. Then Santino made the desperation tag to Zack Ryder who cleaned house by giving Dolph the rough ryder. When he went to hit the Broski boot, he was distracted by Eve Torres which allowed The Miz to hit Ryder with the skull crushing finale and the pin attempt for the 1-2-3. Team Johnny were the winners of the match and John Laurinaitis was now in control of both brands. After the match was over, Zack received a kick to the nether region for a consolation prize.

x240-2tFThere is always a method to my madness and there is an obvious reason why I chose this specific match from WrestleMania XXVII. At WrestleMania 33, John Cena is teaming up with his girlfriend Nikki Bella to take on The Miz and his wife Maryse in a mixed tag team match. If the WWE was smart, they would have the Miz win that match for more bragging rights and something new for himself to say on the air. It also all started at WrestleMania XXVII when The Miz took on John Cena at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta as the Miz defended his WWE Championship against Cena in the main event. When the match started, The Miz was trying to ground Cena with a side headlock, but Cena showed why he was more powerful by simply shoving him off. The Miz had to think of a new gameplan because matching power with Cena in the match was a foolish move so he decided to bend the rules a little. A wrestler always takes advantage of the referee’s five count and The Miz definitely did that as he gave the boots to Cena in the corner. The Miz was now in full control of the match after a huge Irish whip the corner and his patent awesome clothesline in the corner.

3But like any John Cena match in history, you have to stay on top of him at all times otherwise he super Cena’s up and he delivers a gut wrench suplex out of nowhere. Like anything though, Cena would give up his advantage to The Miz who began to work away on the head of Cena with big shots that seemed to knock him off his game for most of the match. At one point in the match, you had to wonder what kind of a force Alex Riley was going to be for The Miz on the outside and after a turnbuckle was exposed, he grabbed Cena and smashed his head against it when the refs back was turned. The Miz would then nail the Skull crushing finale, but Cena would kick out on the pin attempt. When he tried for a second one, Cena got out of it, but it forced the Miz to run into the referee knocking him down. With the referee down, Riley would once again come to the aid of the Miz and he used the briefcase on Cena. Unfortunately for The Miz, Cena would kick out on the pin attempt. Riley would come on to the ring apron and he would try his best to distract the referee from what The Miz was about to do, but unfortunately for Riley, he’d get the briefcase to the head and Cena would deliver one hell of an AA to The Miz.

72The Miz would to many people’s surprise kick out of the pin attempt. The Miz would roll to the outside only to see Cena charge at him like a defensive lineman and clothesline the champion over the timekeepers cave area. As soon as The Miz climbed the security barrier to possibly escape, Cena speared him over it and to the crowd’s area. The referee would then count both men out and he would reach ten before he went over to check on them as he ruled the match a draw. Then out of nowhere, The Rock’s music hit the speakers and the people’s champ made his way down to ringside. The Rock rejected what the Anonymous Raw General had written and exclaimed that the match was now a No DQ, No Count out match and that it was to be restarted. Then as soon as both men entered the ring, John tried for the AA, but The Miz held on to the rope and as soon as Cena turned around, he received a Rock bottom from the great one. Miz ever the opportunist, covered Cena for the win, but The Rock wasn’t finished there. He began laying the smackdown on The Miz right after the match. The Rock would nail one hell of a spinebuster and he followed it with a people’s elbow that buried deep into the heart of The Miz.

Black History Month, Bret Hart, Main Event Madness, R Truth, Raw, The Miz, Wrestling, WWE, WWE Raw, WWE United States Championship

miz-vs-r-truthWe are continuing to pay tribute here at Mr. X’s Punch Out to all the amazing African Americans that have stepped foot into the squared circle for Black History Month. The man I am covering for today is none other than R Truth who is one of my personal favorites because we share the same birthday. R Truth has been a guy who has consistently been there for whatever the company needs and he enjoys what he does. The match that I chose for today is the United States Championship match that he had on the May 24, 2010 episode of RAW against The Miz. The week before, The Miz lost the title to Bret “The Hitman” Hart, but Bret had to give up the title because he was named RAW General Manager so he set up this match to decide a new champion. The Miz tried to be the aggressor to start off the match, but he quickly figured out that R Truth was having none of that.

40When we came back from commercial break, The Miz was in control of the match on the outside where he was working on R Truth’s shoulder. He was absolutely relentless whether it was using the ropes to wrench on the shoulder or through submission holds. No matter how many times R Truth tries to battle back, The Miz was outsmarting him and using the injury to the shoulder to slow him down. Truth finally did find an opening however down the match when he countered an attempt in the corner by The Miz. That is when the furry of offense commenced with a huge missile drop kick. After trading jabs back and forth, R Truth would try for a scissors kick, but The Miz moved out of the way. Unfortunately for The Miz, he couldn’t dodge the Lie Detector and that was all it took for R Truth to become the new United States Champion.
