We are back again with another edition of The Top Matches of the week and this was an amazing week of wrestling especially in the WWE. There is so much wrestling at our fingertips that it’s absolutely mind blowing. There is Smackdown On Fox on Friday night, MLW Fusion every Saturday night, Raw on Mondays, Impact on Tuesdays, NXT on USA Network and AEW Dynamite on TNT on Wednesday nights, and Beyond Wrestling Uncharted Territory on Thursday nights. As you can see, you can occupy your week well if you try to watch all the wrestling promotions in the world right now, but my job is to give you what I thought was the best of every show that I watched during the week. So, get some refreshments, take a seat, and let me be your guide to the wonderful world of professional wrestling. Now the style is going to be a little different in the way that if there is more than one great match then they’ll just be short descriptions, but if not then we’ll go over the match.
WWE RAW (12/9/2019)
The match of the night and maybe my match of the week was between Humberto Carrillo and Andrade. I don’t know what Humberto did to Andrade, but he fired him up and the match was absolutely amazing. One thing all wrestling writers need to take notes on: Humberto who is a babyface found a way to avoid Zelina’s interference to puck up the huge win against Andrade. Becky Lynch vs The Kabuki Warriors was a decent match, but it did what I thought it would and that is show that the Kabuki Warriors were too good to be defeated by one person. The final good match of the night was the United States Championship match between Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles. The two went back and forth showcasing why they were the best of their gens and Randy even did his best work in this match.
Impact Wrestling (12/10/2019)
Acey Romero made his Impact Wrestling TV I believe against the dirtiest player in Impact in Moose. These two put on quite the show for the crowd as they threw everything they had at each other. At times, it looked like Moose was getting frustrated because he couldn’t put Acey Baby away, but all it took was a spear and no jackhammer needed for Moose to pick up the win. The tag team match to determine the number one contenders for The North at Hard To Kill in January saw Reno SCUM take on The Rascalz, oVe, and Rich Swann & Willie Mack. Well Mack was in the match at the beginning, but a high risk maneuver took him out and left Swann on his own, but it didn’t matter because Swann punched their ticket to the PPV with a roll up win over Dave Crist.
NXT On USA (12/11/2019)
The first match of the night usually sets the tone and this one was no different as Lio Rush defended his NXT Cruiserweight Championship against Angel Garza who is regular of this blog in what was an epic match that could be match of the year material. Lio went to the well once too many times and he tried to land the frog splash on the outside of the ring, but Garza stuck his knees up just in time. Once in the ring, Garza hit the winged clipper, but Rush kicked out in the ensuing pin attempt, but no matters because Garza locked in a full nelson submission that was all it took as Rush tapped out. The triple threat match to decide the number one contender for the following week is the other match of the night as Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, and Finn Balor gave it all they had. It looked like at times that Keith Lee was going to take the win, but Finn is a veteran who knows how to pick his spots and he stole the win.
AEW Dynamite (12/11/2019)
The Butcher and The Blade made their debut this week as they battled Cody Rhodes and QT Marshall in what was a surprisingly good match. QT looked a little rough at times, but he added to the magic of the match and you were hoping for some kind of miracle, but The Butcher and The Blade were too good with their suplex/lung blower combo. The tag team match that saw Shawn Spears and Kip Sabian team up to take on Hangman Adam Page and Kenny Omega looked a little rough for both teams as far as chemistry was concerned, but it was a really good match. The last match of the night saw one heck of a Texas street fight that saw The Young Bucks and Santana & Ortiz throw everything but the kitchen sink at each other. Not to mention all the different people that got involved in the match made it interesting as well.
At GCW W.O.M.B.A.T 2., Tony Deppen had an interesting contest against Levi Everett, an Amish wrestler who was dominating the match until Deppen grabbed a little bit of his trunks for the roll up and win. Travis Banks picked up a big win for NXT UK when he defeated Jaxson Ryker on NXT On USA. Dakota Kai earned a huge victory whether it be by hook or by crook over Mia Yim on NXT. Luchasaurus and Sammy Guevara had a pretty decent match of power vs speed on AEW Dynamite.
