We are back again with another edition of The Top Matches of the week and this was a good week. There is so much wrestling at our fingertips that it’s absolutely mind blowing. There is Smackdown On Fox on Friday night, MLW Fusion every Saturday night, Raw on Mondays, Impact on Tuesdays, NXT on USA Network and AEW Dynamite on TNT on Wednesday nights, and Beyond Wrestling Uncharted Territory on Thursday nights. As you can see, you can occupy your week well if you try to watch all the wrestling promotions in the world right now, but my job is to give you what I thought was the best of every show that I watched during the week. So, get some refreshments, take a seat, and let me be your guide to the wonderful world of professional wrestling. Now the style is going to be a little different in the way that if there is more than one great match then they’ll just be short descriptions, but if not then we’ll go over the match.
WWE Smackdown On Fox (11/15/2019)
I was originally excited for Nikki Cross vs Sasha Banks, but due to outside interference, the match then saw Nikki team up with Sasha as well as Carmella and Dana Brooke to take on NXT’s Teagan Knox, Dakota Kai, Rhea Ripley, and Mia Yim in what was an impressive outing for NXT, but unfortunately Nikki Cross was able to pick up the win for Smackdown Live. The other good match from the night was the tag team match between Shorty G and Ali who were fighting to keep their spot on Team Smackdown against Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. The match ended with G and Ali hitting a roll up German Suplex/450 splash combo for the win.
MLW Fusion (11/16/2019)
The match of the night for sure was the amazing battle between former MMA star Filthy Tom Lawlor and Dave Boy Smith Jr. which was also the main event. The match was divided into parts with Davey Boy dominating the beginning of the match proving that he had mat wrestling skills like Tom Lawlor and then there’s the second part where these two threw everything at each other, but in the end Lawlor got the best of the battle witha pinfall victory. This was unfortunately the only match worthy because I would have included Marshall Von Erich vs Ikuro Kwon, but the match ended after four minutes due to outside interference.
WWE RAW (11/18/2019)
The best match of the night in my opinion was the match between Kevin Owens and Drew McIntyre who were throwing everything at each other throughout the whole match. Unfortunately after battling to end the second hour of RAW, the match was interrupted by Triple H and The Undisputed Era. The second best match that they should have let go till the end was Seth Rollins vs Andrade which was looking like a match of the night contender till there was outside interference and the match ended in a DQ win for Rollins. Humberto Carrillo vs Karl Anderson was great and it was helped a lot by Samoa Joe’s commentary and Buddy Murphy vs Akira Tozawa was also an great match to watch as well as Buddy Murphy did some amazing selling.
NWA Powerrr (11/19/2019)
Despite the fact that Jim Cornette’s commentary is atrocious, the night featured some decent matches with one that could have had great potential. That match that I am talking about is NWA World Champion Nick Aldis who took on veteran Trevor Murdoch which was going great and made Murdoch look strong until he slipped on the top rope and fell allowing Aldis to stick him into a cloverleaf. The best match of the night was the women’s match for sure as Thunder Rosa and Marti Belle took on Ashley Vox and NWA Women’s Champion Allysin Kay. Thunder dominated the match making a strong case for her getting a title match in the future and the match also featured the debut of former WWE Divas Champion Melina coming to the aid of Rosa and Belle.
NXT On USA (11/20/2019)
Adam Cole vs Dominik Dijakovic in a ladder match to determine who gets the advantage at WarGames is definitely the top of the list as Cole hung in with the big man. These two threw everything at each other from a Panama Sunrise from the top of a ladder from Cole to the feast your eyes, but it was Cole throwing Dijakovic through a ladder that allowed him to pick up the win. The other amazing match on the card was the Tag Team Classic between current NXT Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly) and former NXT Champions and legends The Revival. This match was non stop, edge of your seat action and I think it should be a match of the year contender for sure. Undisputed Era may have walked away with the win, but you can understand from this match why The Revival are one of the best tag teams in the game.
AEW Dynamite (11/20/2019)
This was actually an excellent episode from beginning to end with so many great matches. Nick Jackson ventured into singles action in a classic with Rey Fenix that ended with Fenix picking up the win after hitting a spinning muscle buster. Hikary Shida defeated Britt Baker DMD in a classic number one vs two contender match that even saw Britt suffer an injury to her nose during the match. Private Party went to war with The Proud and Powerful in what was a classic tag team match showcasing why AEW has a great tag team division. That Gin & Juice maneuver is something else and very effective.
Honorable Mention:
The Question Mark and Aron Stevens vs Colt Cabana and Ricky Starks was a decent match, but it featured some great comedic moments between Question Mark and Stevens. Becky Lynch vs Rhea Ripley on NXT On USA was an amazing match until there was outside interference that ruined it in my opinion. The Viking Raiders vs The Forgotten Sons was a decent match, but not better than Undisputed Era/Revival. This was a tough one to put down here because it was entertaining, but Jon Moxley vs Darby Allin on AEW Dynamite just wasn’t the best match of the night.
